I completed first run last night with my daughter. Feeling it today and I have sore hips is that normal just because I am unfit. Also was wheezing a bit while running I must be really unfit can’t imagine me doing the half hour run!

First Run
Great for getting started, some aches are normal with new exercise as for your breathing you'll have to slow your running right down . You can do this it just takes a bit of practice. Also myself and everyone on here couldn't imagine running for 30 minutes but the plan really works . 😊😊
Rest assured the plan does work. I started October 2018, first week or so was just as you describe. Today I ran for 67 minutes. Slowing down makes a huge difference as does being well hydrated. Happy running days ahead. Enjoy. It’s so worth it.
I think every part of my legs and lower back hurt over the first few weeks, it does get better though
In my first runs I thought my legs were going to fall off and were sooo stiff the day after. As it's something new for your body it takes time for it to adjust, it will get better as long as you don't run too fast and keep hydrated. I fill a drinks bottle every night, pop it in the fridge and make sure I have drunk it all by the time I go to bed. That way on my run days I know I'm plenty hydrated.....though I'm at that age where the slightest teaspoon and I'm heading for the toilet, my kids think it's hysterical that I know where each toilet is in our shopping centre lol!
Hi Thomasina73
I started the first run with my daughter and experienced the same problems ( found it much better to run on my own for the rest of the programme)
Good luck 😉
Thank u all for ur replies I will keep going and run again tomorrow. Even my stomach muscles are sore and can’t work that one out lol!! 😉
Please read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and follow the advice about the easy conversational pace, which makes it all possible.
Just look to the next run, do it and then you are ready for the next one and lo an behold, in a few weeks time you will indeed be running for thirty minutes........yes you will!!!
