Stop thinking speed matters?

No questions just thinking aloud really, but any advice extremely welcome.

Consolidation run 7 last night was much easier as I had been having breathing issues and slowed right down meaning my time for 30 mins running was 9:45 per KM. Even though I enjoyed the run so much more - I still can't help beating myself up for not covering 5k in 30 mins.

I try to tell myself that at the beginning of the year I couldn't run for one minute let alone 30 but the gremlins always kick in... especially when I get lapped by another runner (or should I say all other runners) :(

That is my next thing to work on ...

You answered it yourself, at the start of the year you said you couldn't run for a minute and now run 30 minutes .

Thats massive, the average man/women cannot run non stop for 30 mins,

Yet your smashing it, have a good word with the gremlins cos there way out of line.

Speed will come over time, your above average at this running , embrace where your at to where you was.

Enjoy and keep up the good work.

Look how far you have come and achieved since the start of C25K ! Amazing !!!

I can’t run 5K in 30 mins and got overtaken last night on my run by an elderly man running with his lurcher ! 😂

We are all different and getting out there is the main thing, just take your time. I do 2 x 30 mins run and one long run a week (have reached 6k once) but I’m more into endurance than speed at the moment.

Just enjoy and you will get there I’m sure !

You've come so far already!

Decide what your long term goals are. If you really want to hit 5k in 30 mins you can still work towards it but quite frankly 10k in whatever time works for you is a better goal 👍😉

I run at about that speed, especially for longer runs. It’s comfortable! Just do it and enjoy! 🐢

I beat myself up the other week for running 5k 4 minutes faster than planned! Our most severe critic is always ourself... step back, imagine that it wasn’t you who did this, imagine it was your friend... you’d be proud of her right?

It’s still early days and we are all very different. It takes years to reach our full potential, you’ve been doing it a few months!

Is the 30 comfortable yet if you don’t push pace? If so it may be time to start thinking about what next... if you want a longer 30 minutes it would be easier to achieve if you could run 45 minutes slowly.

Happy running.

Sound advice as always you guys! My hubby always says I am far to hard on myself- think its catholic schoolgirl and mum guilt mixed with menopausal melt down... maybe 10k is the best goal for me now..
