So I've completed wk8 runs 1 and 2 BUT am suffering a complete mental block with run 3! I know I can run for 28 minutes, I've done it twice, but I've tried R3 twice now and walked for two mins each time at around 20 mins!!! I've tried different routes but this hasn't helped - should I keep going with this run or move in to wk9r1? I did go further today so maybe I need to slow my pace? (Although I'm pretty slow already! 😂)
Wk8R3 mental block!: So I've completed wk8 runs... - Couch to 5K
Wk8R3 mental block!
It sounds like you’re running too fast to begin with - try slowing it down a bit and as you come up to the 20 minute marker start singing or tell yourself out loud “only 3 more tracks - I will do this” - anything to avoid the bogeyman that 20 min seems to have become! Good luck and keep going!
Well done for getting that far! It sounds as though you are running to fast. Try not to clock watch too which I do an awful lot. I would say give it one last bash then move on. Good luck
I think you developed a "thing" about the steepish hill at the end of your normal run? I would definitely keep the pace right down; if you haven't got a running watch which shows current pace it is easy to misjudge your pace...you may well be moving faster than you think. I would take the hill out of the equation (you have probably done this already) and just try to run as slowly as you can. You will do it😊
instead of walking that bit,could you `japanese` it ?
Run the first 10 deliberately slowly and I think you’ll knock this little wall down. I also find it good to put a podcast on so I don’t think about the running too much, and the time flies by.
You know you can run 28, relax before you run and go nice and easy.
Brilliant tips everyone, thank you. I agree, I do seem to be going faster to start with, I'll try to do my run the opposite way round - start slow and get quicker! A podcast rather than music sounds like a top tip as I do end up talking myself out of running so listening to someone else talking may distract me! Onwards and (slightly) upwards;
