Running together

I met a local fellow C25K lady locally and it turns out we were on the same run in the plan. So last night we ran together. It was nice to have the company, although we didn't have much one to chat! But we both found that having a partner made us go faster than normal! We weren't trying to beat each other but I think we were worried about holding the other back! We're meeting again on Friday morning any suggestions as to how we run together if our paces are a bit different without going too fast?

What a great find for you both, that’ll really help to keep you motivated etc., I’d suggest, when you run together, conversational pace, e.g you should be going slow enough to be able to hold a conversation, that way, you’ll be putting the world to rights without realising how much you’ve done.

You can always plan some goals together for speed or technique as you get further along

Good luck, I’m sure it’ll be great having a running buddy.

Thank you! We were both plugged into the app so didn't really do much talking, but maybe try with one earphone only lol so we can do both!

Don’t over think it. Just run at a pace which feels right for you both. Perhaps discuss first just get it out of the way. Treat yourselves to a tea or coffee afterwards. It is great having someone else to run with.

Morning Bbl - before you start your run, why don’t you talk about rule 1 of C25K, ie run slowly at a conversational pace, and agree that if one of you has a pace that’s a bit faster, they will stick with it and the other will stay at a pace that is best for them. Or concentrate on chatting - which will surely keep you together! If one of you is running faster than you would if alone, it sort of defeats the object and you might not enjoy it! Good luck!

We ran together again today (6/2) and agreed last time was too fast. We agreed to chat and get to know each other better and had a lovely run. Taking a new route for both of us. Thanks for the advice 😀
