One calf or both?

Heavy legs can be a sign of slight dehydration, sip water all day every day. Muscles use a lot of water when being worked.

If it’s on one calf, concentrate on landing the feet flat and under your body... landing on the toes works the calves really hard, and heel landing puts more stresses through the lower leg in general.

Slow down a little and maybe consider a softer surface. Also, if you haven’t done so already I’d recommend gait analysis at a specialist running store and the purchase of some new running shoes.

Great job completing the run, enjoy the next.

As the guide to the plan states, most new runner's aches and pains are caused primarily by the impact of running, so do all you can to minimise it.

Slow down, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body not out in front, run on grass or treadmill and most importantly, wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.

Stretching immediately after every run will also help.

Can’t help with the tight calf I’m afraid, but detected a fellow Bhoy and had to stop by and say HH 😂! Hope you get the pain sorted out and good luck with the rest of the programme....it’s brilliant 👍
