Restarting after long break

Hello runners!

I’m looking for a bit of advice or reassurance really. I completed c25k last year, took some time off during the heatwave and then at the end of summer became really unwell and couldn’t continue running.

I’m healthy, and ready and excited to get back to it now and am going to try my first run in a long time tomorrow morning.

I’m just not really sure where to start? I can’t decide if I should start the program from the beginning, maybe try a run a few weeks in and see how it goes or just run - slowly - from the off and just see how I feel. I was running really regularly and doing Parkrun in 34 mins.

If anyone else has any experience of having quite a long break and could share how they found it restarting, and what they tried I’d be really interested!

Thanks 😊

I had to take a break, though not as long as yours. I think I started again running for 6 minutes, walking for 2, running for 6. Can't remember what week that was. I then did one run from each week rather than all three, for two weeks, then followed the rest of the program fully to the end. I know others feel better repeating the entire program from the start.
