Can you interval run more than once on same day?

Ok so we know that we are not supposed to run on back-to-back days due to micro tears and healing. But can we run several shorter times on one day?

I'm looking to add interval training to my resume of exercises! On the weekend I get time for longer runs at a slow and steady pace (currently upto 1 HR). Weekdays I only have a 40 min window before the school run to do my run with the warm up and cool down walks. I'm thinking of doing a shorter interval run (slow jog 3 mins sprint 1 min repeat X5) and then later do it again in the evening.

If the distance/duration of your combined intervals fits within the 10% rule, then I can't see any reason why not.

Try it and see.

Sorry... Remind me of the 10% rule? Is that a 10% max increase in time?

I think it’s distance x
