I’ve just had a colleague join me out here in Qatar, just in time for my first consolidation run. He was game so off we popped. With that in mind I took my headphknes out and turned the music off.
This was a run of firsts.
- First consolidation run,
- First run without Laura,
- First run without music,
- First run with someone
We decided we would do a simple out and back, so I started my Garmin, and we started walking. We walked a bit longer than normal, but at 8 minutes we started running.
As I was with someone we were actually chatting as we went. This was great because it allowed me to control the pace to ‘conversation speed’. I’m not really sure how different this was to my normal run paces - I’ll have to check the data - but wow! What a revelation. We turned after 17 minutes running (bit later than planned but a good point).
We got back to the start after a total of 34 minutes running.
I felt like I’d barely begun. Such a good feeling running at that pace with the distraction of running with someone. For anyone struggling with pacing or shin splints or anything I thoroughly recommend trying to find someone to run and chat with.
Happy trails everyone!
