Burnage parkrun meet - leg 1 complete!

Well what a very enjoyable but hectic weekend, kicked off by the first leg of the 5Ps grand tour... Burnage.

This is actually one of the closest to my home and on a route that I run part of regularly. We were on the alternate course on Ssturday because of work being done to part of the normal route. This was my first experience of parkrun elsewhere but Marple, and I very much enjoyed meeting a new set of people - the friendliness and welcome were exactly the same as I'm used to, I'm glad to report. It was lovely to be joined by Runaroundsue, her hubby and two other friends. :)

An interesting course, starting with a short run along the river path, then up a section of a cycle path and back, back along the river and a loop around a field then back to the river, veering off to the rugby pitch to finish. Some gentle inclines demonstrated to me that I need to find some non-flat routes practice on.

Sadly, it was not a good running day for me... hydration, I think. I struggled from the off and was very glad to finish! No PB for me, but another one completed. But back at the club house a lovely cup of coffee awaited and a bacon butty for some (not me... I was being good).

An enjoyable first leg... very much looking forward to the next one, which is Sale Water Park in May.

Well.. I reckon after my adventure on the beach park run yesterday..my park runs on dry land will be faster and certainly easier and it will be fantastic if we can meet up.. I think the whole idea of forum friends getting together if they can is a great one!

I love your parkrun challenge Pianism and glad you got to meet another VRB at your first tourist run. Do keep us posted each month

I definitely will do. :)

Not a pb, but still your second best parkrun time. I told you it was a bad idea to improve your time by nearly five minutes in one go - you just have to wait longer for your next pb :) You did well with the extra hills.

It was a really good morning and nice to have our own little "club" for the post parkrun drink (and bacon butties for some of us - you did well to resist)

Looking forward to the next outing.

Yes, I had a great time :)

And it is likely to improve your time on the more flat Marple route. You're doing great? 😁

My time is improving well as I get fitter too. I'm just happy to be running, fast slow or intermediate. :)

Great! It must be so much fun to do pR tourism!

I love it. That was my 21st different parkrun, but only the second local one even though we are lucky to have so many nearby.

Thanks to Pianism I should bag a few more over the coming months.

Yes he’s done all the collating data together! I’m marginally envious...

It's really good to meet up with people for a coffee afterwards. I don't always have the luxury because of students. :)

Well done P and good luck on your travels.....who cares about PB’s anyway 🙄! I’m envious of u guys having so many runs close by, I have a choice of 3 then a 100 mile round trip drive to the next closest 🙁

I've got the rest of my life for PBs... however, I'd have liked to run it all instead of the pathetic stop/start that was all I could manage! :)

Super to see you all in the photo. Just sorry I couldn't join you on that one but I was volunteering with the local CRT group on Sat. I hope to make the next one though!

No worries! It'd be great to see you whenever you have time. :) I think we're going to change the date of the next one. Will check and confirm.
