Hello fellow Runneroos!
This morning was sunny and warm. I got up late and did my stretches and exercises to strengthen my hips and then plastered my body in lycra, ready for the outside! Strapped on my garmin, plugged in my tunes, donned my shades and off I went.
I'd planned on 8K today along my usual Thames path route. It's a flat route with just a short piece of stony path. Off I went and as the first K clocked up I was feeling good. 2nd and 3rd K were faster than the first and there was only one more K to go before the halfway mark.
I always stop for a stretch and a rest at 4K on this route, as the views across the river are gorgeous and frankly, I consider it a treat!!! I took out my headphones and just listened to the ducks flying across the river and felt so lucky to be able to take my time on this run. I'm not working at the moment and have had the past 12 weeks off to just chill out - so my running is such a lovely thing to do and I make sure I enjoy it. It won't be long before my work life starts again and I'll be back to 6:30am runs!!!
Once I'd got my breath back I took off again for the route home. Got to 8K in 45'30 which was very pleasing. My average time per K is around 5:40 at the moment and I'm sure it's cos I've lost a stone recently and have adjusted my cadence to shorter quicker steps.
Hope you all had a super Monday! Keep at it. It's addictive!!
Yer pal
Dan.
