Things had been going well. I’d reached and finished W7R2 and then things went down hill! I became ill and couldn’t run for a week and then life just got in the way. As more time went on I lost all enthusiasm to get back out there (there was always a stupid excuse). However I’ve finally got back running although only on the treadmill. I completed 2.5 miles Friday night and managed 4.2 miles today (non stop running for 3.5 miles).
The thing is I’ve lost all confidence in going back running on the road again. Running on the treadmill doesn’t hurt my knees, ankles etc. I’m not so sore afterwards.
I want to be able to just go outside and run but I’m scared that I’ll get frustrated when I only manage 5 mins before having to stop. I’m scared it’ll knock my confidence again.

Hey, there’s no “just” about treadmill running. Most of us who run outside do it because we’re scared of the boredom of running indoors ! So be proud of you. Running is running, wherever you do it. If you do decide at any time to venture out again, take it slow, and if you can run on grass or hardcore rather than tarmac or paving, you’ll find it gentler on your legs. Happy running 😀
