Week 7: Just completed week 7 on the tread mill... - Couch to 5K
Week 7
I think it is OK at 170, if the heart rate is over 200 that is a bit dangerous.
Congratulations on completing week 7, not long now until you graduate, onwards and upwards to week 8.
Mine goes up to around that and checked with my doc, she said it was fine after seeing all my graphs from my tracker. My resting rate is higher than my husbands as well.
Mine goes high when I push myself! But so long as you feel ok, no light head or black dots before the eyes it should be fine. Also I would not recommend keeping this heart rate for long though. I got checked out years ago and one Dr said ok, another said not to run with such a high heart rate 🤷♀️ So being much older I keep it under 160.
Officially: if you have any concerns about your heart then please make an appointment with your GP.
Unofficially: you are 54 and a heart-rate of 170 whilst exercising should not be a problem, based on MHR = 220 - age (a terribly inaccurate rule-of-thumb as it does not predict your maximum heart rate). If you get dizzy, feel faint or see spots during exercise, or feel nauseous after exercising, then see your GP.
