You will have to stop running and give yourself a few days rest until the stitch heals, if you continue to run it will just get worse, give yourself at least 3 days off and the day before you run again drink plenty of water. When you restart running go slower than you did up to now.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and I recommend the link to mental approach.

For a stitch, just slow down and take several full deep breaths. Avoid drinking while running, but make sure you are well hydrated beforehand.

You can do this.

Enjoy your journey.

Don’t dread it Clare...positive thinking before you go out for your run. Drink lots of water day before and a small amount before you run, stretches beforehand and off you go, really slow aswell, it’s not how fast you go it’s finishing. Breathe in and out and if you can’t speak your going too fast. We are with you and lots have been in the same position as you...you can do it 🏃‍♀️

Some advice given to me is wait 2 hours after eating or 4 hours after a big meal and I have managed to avoid the dreaded stitch once I followed this rule! Good luck!
