What to listen to whilst running

Just trying to get a feel for what’s good to listen to whilst running.

I have tried music and that’s ok but I need a certain tempo otherwise I find I slow down or I count number of songs which is distracting. I tried a podcast last night and that was quite good I got immersed and the time seemed to go quicker I was thinking of trying an audio book? Has anyone tried that?

i went on youtube and searched workout/running music.there are loads on there to choose from. look for bpm (beats per min) 130-160 bpm.

I listened to a playlist of fun music from my own library, but as I increased distance I downloaded radio programmes, including desert island discs. It’s great for taking your mind off yourself.

You should only listen to what you really like to listen to - or don't listen to anything at all. If you end up listening to a high tempo song and you're tired, then what?!

Likewise, if you listen to stuff that others recommended and it turns out it's vile, you'll end up hating every step you make. So. It's either your favourite songs, podcasts or audio books, or nothing. Your sanity will remain intact.

Thanks I think I will have a bit of each on my phone then if the music is no good I can switch to a pod cast or book and vice versa

I made my collection of songs from all eras a bit of disco some Elvis 🕺 and Roy Orbison with the London Philomonic orchestra some 80’s and 90’s and put them on shuffle. I then know roughly the lengths of songs so when Laura says 5 mins it’s one or two more songs depending on era and album from. It works for me.

Not a problem I graduated that way. Shuffled the songs so guessing on way round what was next.

I make my own running playlists of favourite music and swap them about quite often so every track makes me feel “yay”! I also am a big Desert island discs fan - so many to choose from & I enjoy the talk/ music mix. I also use other radio 4 podcasts. I too, have thought about audio books- must ask one of the kids how to do that! 🙄😂
