Still on consolidation runs but I decided today was the day ....... I just went and run 5K πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. It was an awful run... had to ad hoc a route due to flooding and it was a bit too hilly and a lot of battling into the wind .... 37 mins of running. I nearly stopped after 1km as I was struggling to run up hill out of the village..... and then the last half km was along a really soggy muddy bridleway... but that’s my first 5K πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€... if I can do it believe me you all can

That’s brilliant, well done! Especially in those conditions! πŸ’ͺ🏻 This inspires me as I’m aiming to do the same...eventually! So had you been doing 30 minute runs up until then and just kept going this time til you hit 5k?

I graduated earlier in the month and had been doing 30 min consolidation runs which were getting faster. On my graduation run a managed 3.8km in the 30 mins. On my 4th consolidation run on Friday I managed 4.5km in my 30 mins.... this inspired me to go for the 5K as I knew I should be able to achieve it in the recommended 10% increase on my weekly running time ... Hated today’s run other than I achieved the 5K which makes the horrid conditions bearable ...... going to stick to 30 mins next week though to keep consolidation going.....

That’s great! I’ve found that I’m getting faster too which is encouraging! I’ve only done one consolidation run so far though so going to stick with 30 minutes for a few weeks then try extending the time gradually. If I get close to 5k I might try the same as you though!

Congratulations on that first of many 5k runs! Sounds like a beast of one to start with too! Very good time, especially with hills and the current conditions.
