How to get going again?

I graduated c25k last year but then after a few consolidation runs I sort of gave it up for the winter. Now I’m keen to get going again and I’m not sure how best to approach it. Should I do the full programme again? Or start midway? Or do one of each run instead of three? Advice from experts, or experience of other restarters would be welcome, thanks.

I've done this before, and restarted at week 5.

After that first run you can judge how well you're doing and continue on from there or go further back/forward.

Good luck.

You have to find your base level and assess how much condition you have lost..........so go out for a gentle jog and see what you can do.

You might be able to restart mid programme, you might have to go back to the beginning.

As with all folks restarting C25K, it is a matter of finding your level. And that depends on your basic level of fitness and how active you’ve been whilst not running.

So start again at W1 and do it twice (instead of 3 times). If you find it easy, move on and do W2, again twice and move on if you find it easy.

At some point you’ll find the right level for your fitness. Some people are in a rush to find the right week and skip ahead. But I recommend running each once twice as you are trying to find a sustainable level, not the “peak” level that you can only do once without getting tired.

Good luck & let us know how you get on.
