How to get going again

Hi all.

I completed wk9 and ran for about 6 wks but with work and family overload I have stopped.

So have not run for 6wks. I feel really fed up about this but wondering g how to restart.

I teach and am now on school hols so good chance to get going again.

I am worried I will go out there and it will be awful and I will give up. It helped to have the app to listen to and wonder if I should go back to an earlier week. Thanks for any advice

You could just go out and run, see how you feel. But if you want the support of the app then just pick a week you enjoyed and go and do that. If it seems a bit easy jump forward a couple of weeks for your next run.

However, if you want to go out and have fun, may I recommend the zombies run app. You can adjust it be time/distance, but it gives a different vibe to your runs. You can also have your music on between the story interludes.

I suspect that you are going to get lots of varying advice on this. I think if I were you I would go out aiming for a 20 minute run, if it turns out to be easy I would add an extra 5 minutes onto the end and make it a 25 minute run. Maybe picking up again from week 7, using the podcasts if they helped last time.

It sounds as though you are feeling low and need to find your mojo. You are probably exhausted from work. The holidays are there for a reason, so make sure you rest and have some 'me' time.

Go find your big girl pants and lace up your runners, give it a few weeks and you should get your mojo back again.

Just get out there with the aim of having fun. No timetable, no lesson plan 😁🏃‍♀️👍

went for run and decided to do week 7 again which is 25 minutes. It was okay and so glad I went. I will carry on with that and go on with week 8 and 9.

Hope I can get back into the habit now it is the school holidays for me.

Well done on getting back out - you hadn’t lost that much condition - couple of weeks and you’ll be back on top!

Keep hydrated, it’s hot out there - was probably much cooler last time you ran

Yes it was really hot. I started programme on Xmas eve, so big difference. Have to say I like the cold but not rain!

Oh well done! You’ve inspired me to go back out. I was doing 2/3 runs a week of 30 minutes plus but then it got really hot and I stopped and haven’t been for 3 weeks. I’m really dreading the-starting but you did so I will ! Will run and see how far I feel like going, on the basis even half a run is better than none. Good luck with the testvofvthe Summer :-)
