Okay, went for my week 6 run 1 yesterday and really enjoyed it and took it fairly easy. Today, since it is a beautiful day and I have a day off work, I really want to go out again. I feel fine, no muscle pains or aches. Is it unwise to go out today or should I "just do it" to quote a well know brand?
Should you always have a days rest?: Okay, went... - Couch to 5K
Should you always have a days rest?
While it's recommended you do and you might risk injury, if I felt I really wanted to go again the next day and felt okay, I'd certainly not let that stop me.
My friend is training for the London Marathon and she only takes one rest day per week. Never seems to cause her any problems.
I'm a firm believer in having at least one day rest between runs, especially after you get into the longer runs. Even if your body is feeling okay with no aches and pains, your muscle needs the recovery. Gayle
I forgot to mention, when you feel like running the day after a run, how about cross-training? Walking, swimming, bicycling are great ways to work other muscle groups.
Thanks for all your advice, as it happens life got in the way and I never got chance to go for a run anyway. Oh well normal services resumes tommorow!
After feeling so chuffed with completing week 5 run 3 on Monday, I did week 6 run 1 yesterday night, having also done an hour of Zumba in morning. I am stiff this morning lol...... Hindsight a rest day would have been a good idea but will rest up today - well apart from the gym with my son for some weights lol
