Advice 😁

Well just finished wk4 run 3 😁 and this week due to weather and time constraints did them all on the treadmill, from the start I’ve done them all in the great outdoors and I’m now worried about doing wk5 back outside as I’ve found it a bit easier running on the treadmill ( although at first did it too fast and knees and ankles started protesting! Slowed back down after that) should I repeat week 4 outside or crack on and just start wk 5 and see what happens...

Though the treadmill and the great outdoors feel different, it’s the running motion that develops the muscles and the time in cardio that raises the fitness, so they are equivalent. I’d say into week 5.

Sometimes I run on grass, sometimes I’m on the trail, and others are on tarmac... they do all feel different, but they’re all the same in the respect of what they do for me.

The only place I can’t run is on the treadmill... kudos to you for doing that. Great job and enjoy the next run.

Thank you 😊 think I’ll crack on with week 5 then and hope my body won’t go into shock 😁 at 59 didn’t think I’d be doing this but I’m quite enjoying it

Cool. Age is a chronological number and we can’t change it, but there is also a fitness age and that is coming down the more you do... keep enjoying yourself as you effectively become younger than your years.

A run is a run. They all count. I prefer running outside. But in a howling wind with heavy rain I’d rather be facing a wall running indoors on a threadmill. Well done and keep going.

Yes weather has been a shocker hasn’t it just knew I’d struggle with it so didnt want a set back , only trouble facing a wall is it has a mirror on it not pretty looking at the wobbly bits 🤣

If faced with a mirror don't focus on the wobbly stuff (I wish I could cover up the bit where my head is so I can't see the huffing and puffing face!) Focus on your body form. Are your shoulders level? Do your hips swing too much? Do you swivel through your waist a lot? Are you leaning forward? All these things you can work on and it takes your mind off the time and wobbly bits 😂

If you read this post about mental approach healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you can make your mind up, but it really doesn't matter if you don't complete a run.......it just means that you have found your level, so you repeat it.
