Hi, just joined Couch to 5K. I am 58 ( in July) and I would like to increase my fitness, I personally feel that the menopause has slowed my metabolism, so I seem to increase my weight without eating!!? ( or at least that's how it feels). I need to buy some running trainers , so haven't yet started

Hi and welcome, go to a specialist shop and get your gait checked before buying as it will make the world of difference, also before anyone else says it slow down and then slow down some more stick to the plan and you will do just great.

Thank you , that's great advice - hadn't thought about my gait... will make sure to ask. Also thought I may do week 1 for 2 weeks and make sure my knees are ok , may wear a support for first few runs??

Welcome!I think the menopause does that, too.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked? An under active thyroid can also be the culprit.

Hitting 20 turned my metabolism down 😂

You’re in the right place to ramp up that fitness. Gait analysis is the way to go for the right shoe for you.

Come and tell us about your first run... and enjoy your journey.
