So run 1 of week 9 was hard, real hard. However, today, with terrible weather I returned soaked but completed a 30 minute run, with ease. My pace isn’t great yet, but the biggest point I could make is -I’m doing this!!! And what I want to say to people is “YOU’VE GOT THIS!”

My main issue is usually in the first 5 minutes, “I hate it, I could just stop etc” once I push past that I love every minute of it

Aye the start of a run is often hard. It’s not only in your mind: there’s a known physiological cause as your body adapts to an increased demand for oxygen. It typically takes about ten minutes, hence the term ‘toxic ten’, but it can be five minutes or fifteen because everybody is different. Warming up properly before the run does help, and so does not pushing too hard for the first ten minutes, but it’s always going to take around that amount of time to be properly comfortable running.

It's good to know that it passes, as that gives you the oomph you need to keep on running.

Brilliant work. Don’t worry about pace or even your distance yet - the amazing thing is that for the first time you’ve run for 30 minutes. After graduation you’ll need to consolidate with a few 3x30s till it feels comfortable. Age and general fitness will be factors but we’re all different. Once you’ve done that you can work on your pace. Best of luck with the next two!
