Week one done , boom !

I’m so happy , I’ve not run since school . I’m 41 now 🙈

Made it through the first week and I must say I’ve really enjoyed it . When I say enjoy , I mean when the run is over ! I feel so happy I’ve made it . The first run I did to no music , but now with the music on in the background the run goes a lot quicker . As I’m only in week one , I’m wondering to people more experienced if they’ve lost weight on this programme ?

Onward to week 2 on Monday 😜

Well done you ⭐️ Some people do lose some weight, but at this level we’re not running long enough to burn a lot of calories, so if that’s your main aim, make sure you’re following a healthy eating plan too. All the best with week 2 x

Hi Thankyou , not really fussed about loosing . Would like to tone up though !

Toning up is pretty much unavoidable ! I do the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts on my rest days and they help too - you might find them of interest x

I’ll give these a go ! Thanks

While c25k is not a weight loss plan, I have lost quite a few inches as I’ve toned, and lost about 3/4 stone. But what I’ve really gained is a much greater feeling of being well! I feel stronger and have more energy and zip! It’s also very sensible to combine exercise with any weight loss plan as our bodies are more willing to give up muscle rather than fat on a diet if you’re not using your muscles. Also muscle uses calories even while not exercising! So win win!

This is such an amazing journey. What c25k teaches you is to run for 30 minutes - so don’t worry about pace or distance at this stage - you can always work on those later if you want, so as durations increase it’s completely fine to just slow your running down. Other tips - your brisk walk can be faster than your run! And stay hydrated on run days and rest days. Best of luck - you’ll be staggered by what you can achieve! Just trust the programme and if you have any questions - someone will be able to help.

Congratulations on completing your first week, you've done the hardest bit just getting started, enjoy the journey! 👏🏃‍♀️ I've lost 16lbs since I began at the end of October, but this is mainly down to sustaining a calorie deficit rather than just running, so I agree with ButtercupKid. My legs are massively more toned than they were, but the rest of me is still pretty wobbly 😂😂😂

Wow that’s amazing !

Congratulations on completing week 1 Leoella, you say that you enjoyed it after the run was over, I was speaking to a marathon runner recently and he also said that he enjoyed the run best after he finished.

Music helps a bit as well, when I go long walks or short runs I tend to listen to my Spotify playlist or a music radio station on my Smartphone, the music varies from classical to oldies pop music. Just last Monday when I was out a long walk I listened to the New Classical Music Station, Scala Radio, they play very good music for runs.

Onwards and upwards to week 2.

Thanks ! I’ll have a look at scala radio

Many thanks 😁

It is possible to lose weight when you get to the longer runs , but you also have to be mindful of what you're eating . Also numbers on a scale don't tell you everything as you can lose inches around your body good luck 😊

Great job. Running is likely to to you up, but isn’t really a weight loss activity in the early months, if ever. Coupled with good nutrition it you should see very good results though.

Really well done to you and great that your “enjoying it” I’m 49 and haven’t ran since school so know exactly what you mean. I’m starting Week 8 and I don’t weigh myself but feel fitter. The plan doesn’t start until Week 7 for consistent running so don’t think you would lose any weight beforehand but depends on metabolism and what you eat. If I lose a few pounds all well and good but did it to be fitter and healthy heart (although on some runs I feel it’s going to stop beating) 😂 🏃‍♀️
