Well, that was quite the break...

Hello!

It’s been a while. So nice to see some of the “familiar faces” are still here.

I sort of disappeared in 2016 and there was a good reason I promise!

We decided to take out the old, ugly, falling apart kitchen in February 2016 and replace it with a cheap and cheerful IKEA one, sell the house, move to a bigger one.

Took out the kitchen.

Discovered shoddy electrics.

Whole house rewired.

Walls removed and rebuilt to code.

Decided “having spent ALL the money and still without a kitchen, might as well stay here now.”

So never did move. We didn’t get an Ikea kitchen, we got a Wickes one on credit instead.

Oh and I got pregnant. Got SPD. Didn’t recover quickly after the birth after months of walking like a duck.

So spring 2017 I had a half way decent house and a new baby. Took all of 2017 and 2018 to be able to walk to the high street and back and forget about running, that was never going to happen.

Finally, in autumn 2018, I could do the Strength and Flex podcast. Lovely Laura assuring me I would be able to do push-ups. I had decided to build my strength back up before attempting running.

New Year, 2019. Decision made - I would do each week of the Couch to 5k twice.

I am on week 5 (again) and OH GOSH it’s so much harder than when I did it the first time! I think I was expecting to bounce back into shape, but I know a two year recovery to running can’t be rushed at this stage.

I did have my “Yey, I am running and not out of breath!” moment at the weekend. My eldest - now 7 - was practising riding his bike on the road and I was running alongside barking instructions on how to do a junction. I didn’t even think about it until afterwards. So Yey, I can run again. And I’ve missed being able to say that. 😊
