I've had a pulled calf twice in the last month so have rested now for 3 weeks. If I were to start back which week do you think I should go back to. I got to wk9 but then went back to wk7 but pulled it again. Any advice gratefully received

Deb
I strained my calf on Christmas Day and have not run since until this week, when I finally felt confident enough to go. But guess what, although I graduated last autumn, I went right back to week 1, just to get back into it gently. I have just done the first run of each week and this morning on week 4, I did feel I could carry on a bit longer when Jo said I could stop. But I am adamant I am not going to try too much too soon and get back on the IC this time. But I would suggest you just try it out but listen to your own body, and if you feel the slightest twinge go back to a walk for a while. It is working for me. So far. But I’m only on my first week back running so I may be totally wrong! Next week I may think differently!!!

Search Japanese slow jogging movement on youtube and you’ll find a great short film showing a low impact running technique. This has been a huge help to me - I started this just before my 53rd birthday and getting fit but without injury was key, This is short stride slow running and maybe it’ll help prevent future injuries.

As it states in the guide to buying plan, after a couple of weeks of non running you may need to just head out gently and see what you can manage.
