Nearly there - after 7 months!

I started C25K before Christmas and each time I got close to wk 9 I got an injury in my feet and ankles. Physio says that it's because I'm a bit flat footed and also don't have much core strength. I've started pilates and some core-strengthening exercises and each time I've been injured I've rested and re-started further back down the programme. Last week I did my first ever Park Run which was great! This week I'm doing week 9 and will finish with my graduation run at Park Run on Saturday.

I just wanted to reassure new folk that we don't all get to 5k in 9 weeks! Just keep on going at your own pace. I'm hoping I'll stay relatively injury free now as my fitness increases - fourth time lucky!

It took me just as long, but I've now done 6 Parkruns and try to get out for a run 3 times / week. I'm still incredibly slow and have this week started working with a coach at a local running club to try to speed myself up a bit. Most importantly I'm enjoying it!!

Yes, that E word again ... didn't have a good day yesterday with my running club, I started badly but enjoyed it in the end. I'd have given up yesterday without the coaches and lots of encouragement. I've just got my gear on to explore a new local course - next Thursday the running club does its annual handicap race around this route and just about everyone in the club turns out ... according to the coaches that means me as well!!

Best of luck and well done for sticking with it. It took me 9 months rather than 9 weeks because of knee problems, but I'm now running smoothly.
