Just started today

I have tried this before and got to about week 3 before I stopped - got kicked in the thigh by a grumpy Shetland pony which meant I could barely walk, let alone run. Somehow never got back into it. But last year I had a run of chest infections (6 courses of antibiotics in 6 months) and a lung function test showed that my asthma was starting to become partly irreversible. So I decided that I need to get fitter in order to preserve my lung function (my mother has COPD from lifelong asthma and I would like to avoid that if possible). I completed my first run of week 1 this morning. I have to say I was dreading it. But I made myself do it and it was a lot easier than I was imagining it would be. My breathing was OK (took my inhaler before I started) and apart from my calves complaining a bit I had no problems. I felt really good afterwards and have planned my next run for Thursday (avoiding Wednesday because heavy rain and wind is forecast). I’ve also just signed up for Scottish Slimmers (I don’t need to lose much as I’m only on the ideal weight/overweight boundary, but I know I’ll feel better weighing a bit less. Just hoping I can maintain motivation this time.
