Hi! I started couch25k last week and tonight will be my 1st run of week 2. Really enjoying it so far but suffering with shin splints! Really need to buy some new running shoes ASAP! Any recommendations? Thanks all!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes a link to advice about buying shoes.

Most new runner's aches and pains are caused primarily by the impact of running, so do all you can to minimise it. Slow down, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body not out in front, run on grass or treadmill and, as you have suggested, wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.

I found as i got past w3 the shin splints stopped, i just ran nice and slow, it will get easier. Good luck with your future runs.
