Week 6 done but sore knee

I was delighted to complete week6 run 3 yesterday in the glorious sunshine. Everything went fine until later in the day my knee started to burn. I’ve had this pain before (triggered by Zumba) but thought I’d strengthened my knees by doing yoga. My question is do I rest it completely today or do I do yoga as normal to keep it working?

As long as the yoga is gentle non impact it is unlikely to cause any problems, but that does depend on exactly what your issue is.

Most new runner's aches and pains are caused primarily by the impact of running, so do all you can to minimise it. Slow down, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body not out in front, run on grass or treadmill and wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.

Stretch after every run, as per the guide to the plan and do knee strengthening exercises nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/k...
