Week8 run 3 completed successfully.

The further I get in the programme the more I realise that running is a mind game as much as to do with physical fitness. I've had 2 rest days due to my plantar fasciitis flaring up slightly, and this morning I had absolutely zero energy. None at all. I just felt totally drained. Too much stress and not enough sleep taking its toll.

I decided to leave my run until lunchtime and just to go out and run with no expectation at all of managing the full 28 mins but i planned to stick to my usual route and walk for short breaks whenever I needed to.

I had the app going as usual so I'd do the full 5 min warm-up walk, and I was jogging along happily and was quite surprised when Michael Johnson said I'd already done 10 minutes as I was feeling fine! At 20 mins in I was getting a wee bit tired - but that's already over 2/3 of the run done. So I just kept going -still with no expectation, so no pressure on myself if I didn't manage it - and then with 5 minutes left I actually managed to speed up slightly as I was feeling stronger than I did on the last 2 runs.

Run completed successfully - and I proved to myself that it's just about getting out there and doing something, rather than nothing, no matter how I feel.

Odd isn’t it?! Sometimes when I feel great, or really psyched for a run, I struggle, and others, where I’m nervous because I’ve had a longer break, or been ill - and I have a great run. I’ve yet to work out my pattern.

Well done on W8 and I hope W9 is all positives!

Completely agree. I try to go out to enjoy a run - as soon as I start to feel “I must do this” everything tenses up and it all falls apart 😄
