Just completed W7R1 and found it hard. Came across the garbage collectors who were calling out good morning so that helped 🙂

Well done.

If it is hard, there is a simple answer........slow down.

Yes that did help, I think I always find the first one of the week the hardest, I think I thought this wouldn’t be as it was identical to the last run last week. R2 on Wednesday, keeping in slower.

I found W7R1 and W1R1 the two hardest. I understand why W1R1 was difficult, but I have no idea why W7R1 is . Any ideas?

I have no idea really! I got a calf strain in W7R1 and had to take a couple of weeks out and rejoin at W5R1 complete with a shiney pair of proper running shoes. I also learned about proper hydration in the two week break. These events influence my view of week 7. The weather was quite hot so that could have been a contributing factor. I found W7R1 to be a kind of "arm bands removed" moment in swimming(although the same is true of W6R3); from here on there is no scheduled walk break....you are a runner and I found myself wondering whether I would be able to get through the next 3 weeks. By the end of W7 I just felt "I am going to do this, it is just a question of time" and sailed through with no further problem, with the important qualification that I ran very slowly; I was interested in nothing but running for the allotted time. So much of running, for me, is bound up in confidence and I meet these mental hills every time I try something new; run faster or further or run up steeper hills, run in trail shoes. So maybe W7R1 is a bit of a confidence testing "moment" which passes as soon as you complete it and no limbs fall off and you don't spontaneously combust mid run! 😊
