Just me?

Please say I'm not alone.

Why is it the minute I've locked the door and started my warm up walk,I'm convinced I need the loo.

Now whilst it's quite handy as it sometimes distracts me from my dodgy breathing, does anyone else do this?

Just nerves of sorts?

I manage to get through the run,get home, and two hours later consider going to the toilet... but the idea "nags" me throughout run.

I don’t even need to leave the house... I go from living room to hallway and I need to go when it’s cold... maybe it’s my age? Little miss UMN has a worse issue that I have yet to encounter... she really needs number 2s about 15 minutes into a run😂. So long as you’re good til you’re done... embrace that distraction!

Lol Letties, there have been many other people writing on about the same subject, I think it's just nerves, The day before a run we are supposed to be well hydrated and drink plenty of water. The only thing to do is not to drink much on the day of running and "go" immediately before you leave the house for your run. 🏃 😊

I do go immediately before leaving.

Obviously just brain playing tricks.

Ivor Robson the starter at the Open Golf Championship stood at the first tee at every Open Golf Championship from around 6.30am to after 4pm without ever having to go to the toilet, asked by the interviewer why that was he explained that for 12 hours before he was at the first tee he never drank anything and went to the toilet several times before the first tee off time.

I'd be going to the toilet to escape (my) boredom of golf!! 😂😂😂

I have an over active bladder which the doctor is trying to sort as we speak , I always go for a wee before I leave and surprisingly when I run I don't need to per but any other time I can go twice an hour. So maybe just see if you need to go before you leave 😊

It drives me mad, like you say I’ve been twice before I finally get ready to go out the door and then it hits me again and not only on the run but now I’m drinking lots of water even on my rest days I have to use the very dodgy loos in the local park when walking my dogs 🙄So glad you brought this subject up, now I’ve been able to get it off my chest too 👍

Definitely not just you! My urge to go tends to hit just before I leave the house and sometimes I have to go to the toilet 2-3 times to reassure myself I don’t need to go! It’s all in my head! And then for me, usually as soon as I start the run I forget about it and end up not needing to go for at least a few hours! 😂

I needed to pee the whole run.

Four hours later I actually went. 😁

You are not alone ! Also it's not an age thing. I am 32M, and I also get this. It's anxiety for me, at getting half way through the run and needing to stop and do a number 1 or 2. After a few weeks it will go. I just automatically go to the toilet before I run, and that routine seems to put my mind at ease.

I often think I do but know I’ve just been before heading out of the door... unfortunately I was pretty desperate when I last ran on Weds: luckily I was running alongside a rubbish boring road but had the joy of McDonalds so I was able to make a pitstop!

You are not the only one! Some other runners told me to go to the toilet before leaving the house. And there try your best to press everything out as hard as you can. ;) But I also think that the nerves are the cause. For me it also depends what I had been trinking during the last three hours ... tea or coffee are not really recommendable for me. Water is ok.

At the very beginning of my running "career" I was wondering what the hell all those people are doing off the track. ;D They suddenly appeared between the bushes and looked so happy! ;) Now I know ...
