What is week 5 all about!!! 😫

I struggled with wk4r3 so was delighted tonight to run wk5r1 without too much trouble.

However, I’ve just looked ahead at run 2 (8 min runs) and run 3 (20 minute run) and I can’t believe the jump in running times! 😭

It's what a lot of people fear but find they are perfectly prepared to do it. Trust the programme, every run and every week prepares you for the next, keep it slow and steady and you'll smash it!!

Relax... breathe... week 5 is amazing.

There actually isn’t a big jump... don’t let the brain look at it too hard! Brisk walking is cardio... so run 2 is 8+5+8... so 21 minutes of workout for the heart, lungs and legs... they’d all love to do 20 after that... only your mind sees it as a longer workout. Sure, you’ve not run that long, but you’ve worked harder... your legs are ready... your heart and lungs are ready... it’s only as scary as you make it. Relax before you run... think positive on that warm up... tell yourself you can do it... say it out loud if it helps... then when the run starts, use that brain to your advantage... keep that pace down... ease into your happy rhythm and relax again. Towards the end you may start telling yourself that you can’t do it... that voice is a liar, it never tried and it doesn’t know what it takes, so tell it you can. You’re going to feel so amazing when the run ends. You can do it... and you’ll remember how week 5 was the best week... showing you how far you’ve come, and that you can do this plan and beyond, enjoy it.

Each W5 workout is shorter than each W4 workout.

This might explain it to you healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You can do this.

Don’t panic ! You genuinely can do it - I know because I did it, and it took me nine weeks of repeats just to beat week 1 ! Slow and steady. When in doubt, slow down again. And when you’ve done it, get on here and tell us so we can all party together 😄

If you go into R3 thinking it’s too much too hard, too long...,, it will be. Try to get your head in the right place before you do it. I am doing it on Friday and have already planned how it’s going to go. I’ve got my play list and know roughly how long each song is so I’m doing it song by song. Someone on here did it by running 5 mins turning around and running back 5 mins, did this 4 times and bingo all done. I also plan to seriously slow down as recommended by nearly everyone who has done it especially if I get a bit puffy. It’s doable the plan has been preparing us for this and we know the plan works. Don’t worry about it and stay positive. See you on the other side 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

If I can do it, you definitely can do it. Just think how far you have already come. Don't look ahead at each week's runs. Just go with the flow.

I am doing w5r3 tommow too weather permitting. I am actually quite excited to see how it goes. Good luck and hopefully we will both smash it.
