Forced myself

Completed my 2nd run of week 2 and it's Thursday, I really had to force myself to do it today. But I'm glad I did. How do you all keep motivated or do you have days like this?

I definitely have days like this but I just tell myself, it’s only 1/2hr and once I’ve done it I feel so pleased. I also read this forum when I’m less motivated and it gets me moving..... let’s see how I feel in the morning 😂

Well done you for completing another run, how did you feel afterwards? You were glad but I bet you felt more than that. So that's your motivation, the feel good factor, plus for me the plan is just 27 runs. You've already ticked off 5, 4 more and your one third done! Every time you run you're doing a great thing for you and doing something millions of your contemporaries are not! So much positive stuff from just 30 minutes running!! Good luck, you will do it.

I think we all have had harder/bad days! Sometimes there is a reason we can pinpoint, other days it’s just tough. I have never regretted running after it’s over, though.

Thankfully there are also good runs, and fantastic runs. I think you can learn what to do to make the good ones more likely, but the odd bad one will still crop up. I like to think of those ones as mental strength training!

🙂

Thank you all I'm glad it's not just me, I'm hoping to do my last one on Saturday. Yes I feel so good after I have done it and yes what's 1/2 hour 😊

Great job getting it done. I think we all have days where we don’t want to... I get them... soon you’ll have days where you can’t because it’s rest day but you want to. Both take discipline. The motivation is already there with your reason for doing this in the first place... the early weeks may see you needing to drag yourself to the start line, but soon the addiction kicks in. Enjoy closing week 2 out.

Well done! I forced myself the first two weeks. I found that I was forcing myself because it was really hard for me. Then I decided to slow down the pace and to repeat the first two weeks. The pressure I applied on myself left me and I noticed that I enjoyed it more. I’m now on W8 R2 (I’ll be doing that today). It’s great you’re doing it. You’re giving it a go and trying. I now look forward to it. It’s not easy yet when it gets really tough I slow the pace for a few mins before going back up again. I figure I’ve got years to improve and master. Now it’s just about training my mind to help my body through the programme. After it, I’ll start to play around with speed, breathing etc., I also do double warmup and cool down. It’s great you’re doing it. Doesn’t need to be enjoyable at this time yet it will become enjoyable. Keep at it :)

I’ve just joined Strava and knowing your mates can see exactly what you’re doing is an incentive to get out! Keep at it- I’m over 70 😱

Sure do, motivation and getting in the right frame of mind is important. Remember a bad run is better than no run at all. So stick with it, you’ll feel better in the long “ run “.

I definitely have days where I've had to talk myself into going running. I run after dropping the kids off at school and I found that it was when I got home that I had to force myself to get changed. Now I put my running clothes on, with a couple of extra layers at the minute, then take the kids to school so all I have to do when I get home is walking shoes & coat off and trainers on. It's taken away a lot of the hassle and now I feel ready to run before I've even got in the door. Roll on the warm weather though so I won't even have to change into my trainers :-)
