Hi all.

I am competing in the 3 peaks charity in June. I’m so excited as this is one of my bucket list goals and I can’t wait.

So starts the planning .... does anyone have any training tips?

Ridgeway, snowdon, Ben Nevis

Wow. The first thing that springs to mind is getting used to running hills with gear, I’m assuming the list of required equipment is pretty extensive as it is just for the Snowden fell race. How close together are the runs?

There’s a guy at our local parkrun who recently ran the toughest hill walk in Europe (I forget its name) he’s there about every other run, I can ask him if he has anything specific to help. Edit: Corsica GR20 I think.

I can’t really contemplate training to run up Snowden as there’s no hill of any height or incline long enough to simulate the climb, so I’m assuming it’s up and down a smaller hill multiple times and going over the required distance to have the legs to get up there.

Ahh... sorry, some do run them... and Yorkshire 3 peaks is a 24 miler that interests and scares me in equal doses, which is why I asked which 3 peaks.

Are you choosing the routes? Snowden is pretty accessible I did that at 14 with a fairly heavy rucksack only to be greeted by people getting off the train... which was a little dispiriting. Ben Nevis I think is the challenging one, maybe some of our Scottish members have been up there.

Not sure which routes my group have yet to get together and plan. Also we have a warm up qualifier up ridgeway in may

I don’t know ridgeway at all I’m afraid. I know you run somewhat and my walking pace has risen a lot while starting the running back up... so I’d be looking at getting some hill work in on the runs.
