Missing a Rest Day

I’ve just done w3r2 😄 I know we should have a rest day in between each run but would it be so bad to miss a rest day once in a while and run two days in a row? 🤔

I'm no expert.. but personally I would say no, and stick to the program

Sorry I know that's probably not what you want to hear, but you don't want to risk an injury.

Happy running

No, you cannot run on consecutive days, no running on two days in a row, otherwise you could have a injury.

You might find it is a question many people are passionate about answering on here and the general consensus is that it is not worth the risk. We do not police the way people run just guide them and as A guide I would say personally while going through the beginners journey it is not worth it.

I would not recommend it.

Leave some time for your muscles to recover. Brisk walk instead!

Thanks so much for the replies folks! I will definitely have my rest day tomorrow as it’s just not worth risking an injury! Thank you xx

Not worth it...just do some strength or stamina exercises instead😉

No miaow, it’s the day when your body repairs itself. Better to have 2 days off than none.

The non-running days are just as much part of the programme as the run sessions.

C25K is successful not only because it encourages the unconfident and unfit but it also protects those who might otherwise tend to be very boom and bust. The aim of C25K is not just to get you to running for 30 minutes but regularly ie sustainably.

It's always great when people are so keen they need to be reined in a bit though!

Some people find that a daily run works for them later on, once they've really got bedded in with running... others of us find that in practice two runs a week suits us better than three. But first acquire the tool!

When you run you create microtears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. With no rest day, no repair, no strengthening and so increased injury risk.

It is not recommended for new runners to run on consecutive days until you have a minimum of six months regular running and extra cardio work on rest days.

If you want to be the best runner you can be, then do non impact cross training on your rest days.
