Week 2 run 3

I’m about to start my week 3, just wondered if anyone else finds that the back of their legs ache when running? I thought at first it was because I’m unfit! And muscles which aren’t used. Just wondered if this is something that will ease off in time.... thanks!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You have to put up with aches for the first few weeks, but they will ease as he get stronger.

Stretching after every run will help minimise it.

Enjoy your journey.

I used to seriously suffer from pains in my calves. So I do the warm up walk then pause the app and stretch my calves by lifting my foot off the floor whilst my heel stays on the ground. This I find eases the discomfort and stretches the tendons. Do it at the end as well.

There’s a simple calf stretch exercise in the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts - I do those on my rest days and they really help.
