What do people use for their consolidation runs? I really don’t fancy the podcasts as the music isn’t my choice. I’m pretty picky there I know.

What kind of music do you like? I use Spotify for all my music needs but it really depends what motivates you. Generally I listen to the same songs I listen to the rest of the time, but I just pick the more upbeat/uplifting ones!

I use a playlist I created using I tunes. It’s all fairly uplifting stuff.

I think I’m a little nervous running without guidance. I’m going to miss Laura.

I see, I thought you meant specifically music, but now on rereading perhaps you meant the guidance aspect more! Sorry, my misunderstanding! I used the Speed+, Stamina+ mainly and did use the podcasts (not a fan of the music either but Laura was worth it) so can't help from experience I'm afraid. The rest of the time I just used Spotify and my Garmin watch for pace motivation! This article might help shapescale.com/blog/health/...

Why not try running with nothing in your ears but your breathing and the world around you.

I might when I’m more confident . At the moment I’m still trying to get near the 5k mark . I’d certainly try Parkrun with no music.

If you use the App instead of the podcasts, you can still have Laura giving you encouragement but you can play your own playlist of music with it.

Thanks is that age consolidation post C2 5k? I didn’t know there was an app.

I didn't know there was an APP when I did C25K until after I'd just about finished. It is quite good and you have a choice of trainer: the lovely Laura, Sarah Millican, Joe Whiley, or Michael Johnson. It only does the C25K programme (9 weeks 3 runs per week) but I used the Week 9 with Michael Johnson with my own play list to consolidate. I also use week 1 every now and again as interval training - where I jog the walking part and run faster for the runs.

There are also C25K+ podcasts for graduates. nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/c...

Unfortunately they have similar music to Laura's podcasts, so may have limited appeal, but do give runs to help improve speed and stamina.

Happy running whatever you decide to do.
