Ok so I had read all the posts about how not to underestimate this run but I still did!!! I thought that given I had run 20 mins at the end of week 5, that a couple of eight and five mins runs would be a doddle! No sireebob or however you spell that!!! I struggled but completed it thankfully and patted myself on the back while slapping my butt for thinking it would be easier!!

By the way does anyone find running on a machine way easier than outside?! I assume it’s because it paces you?...ps I mostly run outside...

Well done completing the notorious intervals... that was the run that had me on edge from day one 😂

You’re lucky... I really struggle on a treadmill! Happy running.

Do the intervals make it harder? The stopping and starting? I couldn’t figure it out and thought it must be a mental thing with me.😆

Only mentally... we see them as short runs. Two tens, for example, is longer than 20 because the brisk walk in between should be added. If you look at the total time from start of first interval to end of last, you’ll see W6R1 and R2 are longer than W5R3! So were the two earlier runs in week 5 as it happens!

So, the walk break doesn’t make the total time harder, it makes it easier... but you’re not thinking total time, like most of us you’re thinking running time.

I did intervals a few weeks ago that were 400m, stop for 2 minutes and repeat x8... that was easier than a 3.2k run, but if walking the two minutes it would have been harder.

Running on machine easier on knees and also less resistance as the floor moves for you.

That makes sense. Thanks!

Yuk, W6R1 the bogey run! Well done for getting it in the bag, and well done for acknowledging that you underestimated the blighter. 👏👏 But you did it, that’s the main thing. R2 is similar, but you now know what to expect so you should have no problem.

As for treadmills, they have their place and I go to the gym if the weather is truly hideous/icy or I’m short on time, but no I personally don’t find it easier mainly because I get too hot. Outside all the way for me! 🏃‍♀️😀

I think the leg muscle movements on a treadmill are slightly different than running outside. You don't have to push away to propel your body forward, the floor pulls away from you. It takes a while for the muscles to adjust to the change. Well done.
