The best way to ease new runner's aches is to stretch immediately after each and every run and use a foam roller on any really stubborn muscles. All this is explained in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Do not run today........it is a rest day and they are compulsory. However keep moving and do any non impact exercise as cross training.
This situation will improve over the next few weeks.
Hey Fitgirltobe, were you perhaps running too fast? My first run was hard, I was often out of breath and although I felt no aches that day, they came hard the day after, which thankfully was a rest day!
I realised after reading up on the helpful posts here (especially Ian’s) that I was going too fast. I've slowed down since, and so far I've not found myself out of breath or aching since — I just completed W3R1. Everyone's different, of course, and your mileage may vary, but this might be worth considering, maybe? All the best!
IannodaTruffe has given you sound advice.... just follow the advice.... we do get aches and pains... We are doing something with our body that we have not done before...!
Warm shower... rub and massage those legs...keep moving... try some gentle exercise and know that it will ease.
Each run.. steady and slow... will make you stronger...x
Hot bath preferay with Epsom salts, foam roller or just a small ball if you don't have one, stretching now, but definitely before and after a run, and a slow walk. It does get better, honest!
