Today I was running week 7, run 3 before my operation on Monday and I gave up at 18 minutes in. I failed.
The runs this week has been especially hard for me since I've been feeling so unwell. I have my operation on Monday and I really hoped I could do the 25 minutes before I go in as a sort of achievement to myself.
Feeling so defeated and annoyed at myself for giving up so easily.

Well done for going out there. You haven’t failed you tried it. Every run no matter how long/far builds your stamina, so give yourself a pat on the back for building your fitness. Some runs are worse than others. Also feeling unwell you get a medal 🥇 for trying in the first place! Hope your operation goes well and that you’ll be up and running 🏃♀️ again soon. Take care and stop beating yourself up. 😘
You didn’t fail. You ran for 18 minutes. That’s more than you did 7 weeks ago. We all have bad runs, even when feeling fine. How king will your operation keep you off running?
Plan a restart once recovered depending on how long you can’t run.
And remember, slow and steady wins the race. If it means dropping back a week or so, at least you are still out there and running.
Don’t be so hard on your self and focus on what you have achieved.
Thank you! I should be able to start running again after 2 weeks recovery so today would be my last run until around 21st. I need to learn to be nicer to me!
We all have a run we haven’t quite managed for one reason or another. You got out there and ran for 18 minutes. That’s made you stronger and fitter. I’d say that’s an achievement not a failure x hope the op goes well xxx
