Post graduate?

Hi all, I’m pleased to say I graduated the couch to 5k on Boxing Day.

Since then I have run a few tones but feel slightly demotivated now I don’t have the couch from my app talking me though the run in my ear.

I can now run solidly off track though the woods for 35 minutes but cannot run for 5k yet. My aim to to get to 5k comfortably. Please can anyone recommend an app I can use to help me do this?

Thank you

No quick way for this... just more runs, lots of them......Mix it up.. short runs...plenty of 30 minute runs and some longer, slow, see where you get to, runs...It is the longer slower runs which build up our stamina and strength and eventually speed and distance follow...:)

You are a very new Graduate.. well done...:) Time now for consolidation... and that is the way to go... but, as I say.. mix it up.. choose some new routes and have fun.. then...take a peek at the post What's next! :)

Thank you Oldfloss, I will do this but am looking for a coaching app that I find motivates me more than just running alone 😊

Try the Nike run club. They have guided runs on there for varying lengths of time and they are really good. If you are running comfortably for 35 mins, they have a 40 minute guided run you might want to try. Good luck xx

Thanks Jazzyd, tried that one this morning but think I did something wrong as had my music playing and couldn’t hear the talking much. Maybe I should start the app running first. Also was the first time using my Apple Watch so was a little confused. Will try again next time!

On the plus side I manage to run 5k today for the first time ever, think that dry January is having an impact....😁

Let me know if you find one! Am only entering week six but I know I will do better with an app than alone after I finish!!

Will do Blueintheface.

I’ve always used Endomondo at the same time as my C25K app which I’ve found very helpful for tracking my distances. This is still good as it shows your route, time, distance and also speaks in your earphone each 1km and the lap time. It’s great but I wanted something a little more motivating that every 1km data.

Will try the Nike one agin next time.

Good luck with your remaining weeks 👍🏻

Just to let you know I’ve now set up a plan with the Nike run club. Yesterday I did exercises after my brisk morning dog walk.

This morning was a 1.5km run, tomorrow is rest day, Wednesday is a benchmark run, next is a long run, rest days, and so the weeks go on.....seems interring so I’ll continue to give it a go and try the work runs on Saturdays 😊
