W1r3 complete.... but my back hurts

Hi all.

Well here we are.. w1r3 complete. To be honest I found it hard. But I made it, so happy with that. Another little victory!!

However, my back is hurting. Feels like my lats. I couldn't get a good breath in at the end. Gonna have a few days rest.

Any advice. Gonna do my stretches. Downward dog and all that. Or as I call it elephant seal gently laying.

Anyways I'm happy.

Cheers all.

I’ve just completed the second run of week 1 and find my back hurts too. Wonder what we’re doing wrong?

I've been told in here we can all get some aches and pains until our bodies get used to something new stick with it hopefully go away on its own

A bit of aches of pains no problem... but I was proper knackered. Every step I felt it. Oh well... maybe when I lose a bit of timber it'll help

Well done.

Runners need good core strength otherwise backs are likely to hurt.

If you cannot breathe you are going too fast.

Have you sought out recommed trainers and any history of back pain or in a job that involves lota of manual handling tasks, Running can cause damage to bw nore noticeable and some usual acks and pains are expected would maybe suggest seeing a physio for advice :)

No pain history. Used to lift weights so back was pretty strong. I think having a bit of extra timber hasn't helped. I'll rest up and try again

Fair enough good luck :) I find Yoga personally great at stretching and strengthen my nack when its sore.

I’m the same the bottom of my back was hurting, as well as the bottom of my calves above the ankles!

Rest up. I'm gonna give out two days. Gonna stretch more before and after. Got a back massage thing that is helping (on as I type). Slow and steady is my thing

I’ve wondered about getting one of those, which do you have and do you recommend it?

Got mine from amazon. Only cost £20. Think they are pretty much all the same until you start spending big money. Mine helps. I'd recommend one. Rayinblue Electric Shiatsu Sooth Heat Pillow Cushion

My lower back muscles hurt for the first three weeks and I even took pain killers on one occasion. However I’m now about to start week six and they don’t hurt anymore so I guess they must have got used to me running . It will get better-honest !

There’s a great 30 day planking challenge app available that will help the core no end... starts off easy (10 seconds) and advances in realistic steps... 6 levels of difficulty to start at too, so it’s good for half a year!

Good post! Yeah yoga pose names don’t totally reflect what one looks like... when i am running, I’m trying to keep think to relax the upper body when I’m running, it’s weird the tension one starts to build up. I’m interested to see what people respond to this!
