Finished c25k and went for my first proper run. On my treadmill I run at only 6.5k, but after my first proper mile I had to slow to a walk for a while.
After a run/walk for 3 miles, I worked out my first mile was run at 9.5k ! No wonder I had to have a walk ! It didn't feel too fast a pace, so running on the pavement I must be striding out more, does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
I ran for 40 minutes without a 5 minute warm up walk, and although I had a few walking breaks I covered 3 miles, against a slower treadmill run including the 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cooldown walk and only covering about 2.5 miles.

I assume you mean speed of kilometres per hour (k/h) rather than a pace figure of minutes per kilometre (m/k).
Either way, you are unusual if you find on first running outdoors that you are faster than on the treadmill. Be careful about striding out too much, as the impact stresses up your legs will be considerably more than if you land in the recommended manner with your footfall under your body.
