Took myself out on Christmas Day for a run, a welcome bit of fresh air and a break from what is a bit if a stressful day. I have been avoiding the second run of week 5 for ages, have been doing run 1 for a while and using all the excuses not to move on, 2 x8 minute runs just looked so daunting. But yesterday I finally gave it a go and stunned myself, I managed the run. My pace is slow but i am still running. It is reading the posts from fellow runners here that has really encouraged me to keep going and trust the programme. So a big thank you to all of you. I am tentativley looking at trying run 3 on Thursday (20 minutes gulp!)

That’s great, well done you! 😀 Your body adapts & strengthens as you go through the program so you are ready for each stage. Start slow and stay slow for the next one - no need to gulp!! 😃
Thanks, i was reading a post that at this stage it is my mind over matter, my legs can do this.
Yes, that’s absolutely right. It can take a little while for your legs to drag your brain into line!😂
I used to play mind games that went something like:
“I can run for 5mins, okay done that - I’ve just proved that I can run for 5 mins so I’ll do it again, oh I can run to this piece of music- another 3 mins done, I can do another 2 mins, look at that flower, look at those birds, lalala ignore the I want to stop voice! ...Oh look, I’ve managed!!😂 - Gradually, as time went on all that brain coaxing slowly fizzled out. 😄
