Merry Christmas all. Just wondering what the best food is to eat,to give lots of energy before running and to aid recovery after. Bearing in mind that I run in the evening mainly, and also wish to lose weight!! Thank you!

I’m only at week 4 but I don’t think we really need to worry too much about the food side of things at this stage. Lots of water throughout the day every day though. The main thing I have found is that running makes me hungry, whatever time of day I run, so I try not to eat before, so that I can have a meal after, otherwise, I have already had the meal and am then tempted to snack.

Thank you. I agree, running (&most things) make me hungry! Thank you for your time, merry Christmas!

I have to run a couple of hours after eating or I get a stitch, but generally I eat pretty heathily all around. If I was running after work I would probably just make sure I have a decent but healthy lunch, including a bit of carbs, then maybe some fruit later in the afternoon, and have my main meal after my run. All-round, plenty of protein and wholegrain carbohydrates, healthy fats plus fruit and veg should see you fuelled for running while allowing you to lose some weight.
