Failed: Just failed my second 25 min run got... - Couch to 5K
Failed
Some runs are harder, for all kinds of reasons - weather, stress, sleep or the lack of it, hydration etc etc. But always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you donβt go for ! Youβll nail it next time x
It happens. Just repeat this run till you're comfortable with it before moving on.
I think most of us have had this. Please don't worry or dwell on it, doing is not failing, just go again in a couple of days.
As ButtercupKid says there are many things that can affect your running and I am always amazed how so many new runners expect to go out and exert themselves physically, as a bolt on to their normal lives, without any impact............. everything in your life can affect your running and running can affect many areas of your life.
It is worth considering why this run was different to others, so that you can avoid a repetition of the circumstances.
Failed, I don't think so! You are off the couch and doing it. I on the other hand have a complete and utter mental block in even attempting to start C25K. So you have far from failed, you are an inspiration to the likes of me! πππ
Maybe you should read this guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which tells you all you need to know to get started.
Cheers for that, I feel sure I have read this before. It's hugely interesting and very good advice but, I physically don't think I can run. It's so weird its like a fear of setting off to do it, to start. I feel so heavy and not at all light-footed. I have wondered about joining a running club and trying to do it in a group? To push, pull, coax me along! However I am now going to the gym and swimming 3 x a week, and have lost 1 stone since August, so I must be fitter surely. I think it's a fear of self belief? Any further suggestions appreciated. π
I recommend that C25K is done on your own.......no compromise on pace, nobody to let you down by not turning up and the development of your own will and determination to complete a workout. The biggest mistake made by new runners is to go too fast.........the easy conversational pace described in the guide is the basis of building stamina and strength required to run for thirty minutes........forget about speed for the time being.
If you really want to do it, you will and we will cheer you to the finish line.
Thanks again, I've had a listen to the NHS podcast and it doesn't sound as daunting as I thought. Watch this space....... π
Make it a 2019 New year resolution "55unfitfatandfedup" to START C25K in January or at least in the Spring and change your username to 55 or "56fitnotfatandnolongerfedup" after you have completed and graduated from C25K.
oh I ish! π
I wish! π
I downloaded different programmes for over 12 month before I actually started this one - no great catalyst made me start or stick with it this time - I just started and carried on and now love it. Hope this happens to you to
Ah cheers for that, I have a windows phone not apple and have struggled to access some downloads. Mind you its probably operator trouble, I hate IT more than running lol!!! π oh Happy Christmas anyway! π
This has happened to maybe everyone and me and I was told it wasn't a failure just practice to try again you'll do it next time π
Failed?... No such thing on here... You HAVE NOT failed, you've just had a tough run, it happens to us all for whatever reason. Lack of sleep, dehydration, energy levels and because we are human beings not machine's (Irish John's famous words) which we need reminding off I feel.
Put that run to bed, and just do it when you plan to go out again.... Don't think about it, don't let the Gremlins in your head beat you, relax and enjoy your run whilst you listen to some decent tunes.
Let us know how you get on π
Yes x gone back to wk6
Happens to us all.
I didn't manage much of anything this morning. 1 km, walk, 0.5 km, walk, trotted off another nearly 0.5km.
I just wasn't feeling it!
On reflection, I still was out there, so were you, and that was better than nothing .
Next one will be better π€π€©.
