Hello fellow runners,
It's been a while since I posted. After graduating in October I continued running 30 mins three times a week for two weeks before my knees got the better of me. They ached and pulled giving me so much pain I just had to stop. I went to see a physio who told me not to run for 4 weeks and to stretch the muscles in my legs several times a day. What!!! 4 weeks no running??!!
I was petrified he was going to tell me "unfortunately, you're not meant to be a runner" but thankfully he didn't. He did however give me the best explanation for my pain that will stay with me... "Imagine you've just finished your GCSEs (if I can remember that far back) and the next day I give you an "A" Level paper to sit, you won't be able to do it as your brain hasn't learnt the subject. Much like running, your body can only do so much but with proper training and feeding you'll be able to do more".
It's pretty obviously really, but since then I have made a good effort to do my stretching exercises, drink lots of water and eat better. I've walked every day and got back into running 3 times a week.
I'm delighted that I managed to run 5K yesterday albeit a slow 39 minutes but I'm super happy with that. Tomorrow I'm popping my Parkrun cherry!
Sorry for the long post but just wanted to touch base with my C25K posse and say hello!
Merry Christmas all and a Happy New Year xxx
