Before I started my C25 journey I did a walking programme for a month and went to Pilates to get ready for the runs. I ran in grey leggings, grey tee shirt and black trainers and really hoped I would disappear into my concrete surroundings โthe grey ๐ปโ but after graduating bought myself two pair of well known brand running shoes in celebration ๐ did several weeks of consolidation runs ๐๐ ran 5km several times and then started parkruns and bought loads of fabulously bright Lycra Iโm OUT! ๐๐๐ and started training for 10km.
So what could possibly go wrong? - Right?
1. If you have small feet, like me, donโt buy kids shoes, they are meant for littlies not (in my case) an overweight adult. After several months of running in one pair, (the others proved way too narrow for my wide feet) having stopped Pilates and not done any stretches to compensate, the pain in my hips and butt became unbearable. So after no running for two weeks (awful) I went to a โproperโ shop got loads of advice and new shoes (still black - boo!) started doing little runs, stretching after each run and before bed. Iโm now back on track and ready to try for 10km again in the New Year.
2. If youโre about to start or have just started C25, read IannodaTruffeโs intro to C25 all you need to know and more, take all the advice (there is a wealth of experience on here given so generously by the admins) youโre all fab by the way. I learnt so much from lurking on this forum for months, before plucking up the courage for that first run.
3. Buy yourself proper running gear, it doesnโt have to be expensive, but buy the best shoes you can afford, your body will thank you. Enjoy your journey and start posting your progress, this forum and the people on here are amazing. Happy running and Merry Christmas!
PS My new shoes and they aint black! Yippee! ๐ค
