So, doing my first Park Run tomorrow, and was looking for your advice for newbies...i normally run alone, in the dark, with earphones....
It will be my Week 9 Run 1 attempt, so any advice welcome.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Stand away from the front as you will get caught in the surge of the moment and go off too fast.
Its lovely running with others, such a collective enthusiasm, but remember you are running for yourself. Stick to the programme.
Have a great time!
Sounds good to me - thank you, i am looking forward to it, though slightly apprehensive.
I'm doing my first parkrun next Saturday so could also use advice. I will graduate Wednesday but should I run Friday or have an extra rest day before parkrun. I also run alone with earphones.
Good luck with your run Scott33.
Thank you - i last ran on Wednesday, and thought it best to take advantage of the extra days rest....but you do what suits you! Hopefully i can feedback my positive experience tomorrow for you.
That'd be great ta.
Hi Scott , yes I would say hang around at the back at the start . The race director always ask if theres any newbies and just gives them some general pointers , so its best to leave your headphones turned off for that bit but after that its up to you .
All the racing snakes like to be at the front and theyre off like a rat up a pipe when the whistle goes off . Its like a stampede of buffalos at mine at the start !
Just go at your own pace , and enjoy it !
Good Luck ! xxx
Thanks PoppyPug....Yeah definitely gonna hang around near the back.
Might leave the earphones at home this week, so i can pay attention properly.
Thank you

Stick with the programme, take your barcode, use only one earphone, get there ten minutes early to hear new runners intro. Enjoy😎😎😎😎😎
Brilliant - thank you very much
Dunno about earphones but start right at the back, even if you think some of the people don't look like they can run far or fast, looks are deceptive. if you get involved in any running group in the middle of the pack you might end up running too fast at the start which would be the worst thing to do.
Ok - so be a lone wolf, slow, and stealthy, probably weezing! Gotcha!
Well the wheezing part rings a bell. I was just conscious the first time that I didn't want to annoy anyone where it gets narrow and you set off it front of them and then they have to overtake. I'd be looking at some people and thinking that I would finish in front of them , but I soon found out I was wrong. As others have said though, you have to run your own race and I'd say get into a pace that you feel comfortable with. For me that involved starting at the back. Don't know about being wolf like though. Certainly not cheetah like.
Im happy just to get it done, and get a time, so i know what i have to aim for in terms of progress, so wont be trying to race and whippets!
Slow.... use the starting line for your warm up walk and then run for thirty minutes...then walk as and when Please do not be tempted to go fast..just run steadily and slowly and enjoy ...
Don't forget your barcode.
Get there in time to warmup beforehand.
Make sure you go to the talk for new runners.
Stick to the C25K programme.
Enjoy yourself.
