Week 8 completed!

Felt like a hard and slow run today, but I ended up with the fastest average pace I’ve had since I started tracking these runs on Strava. A bit of a surprise really.

I actually kept going a little beyond the official finish, just to see if I could get to a particular point on the route, which I did. It meant I ran 30:13 minutes, apparently, so I am feeling reasonably hopeful about Week 9 - exciting stuff!

And, yes, I did extra brisk walking to cool down, beyond Laura’s timing just for insurance purposes.

That's uncanny...I could have written every word of that post! I also just ran what felt like a slow sluggish w8r3 and was really surprised to find I must have increased my pace over the previous run as got further on same run before Laura told me to stop. I also ran for the extra 2 minutes just to check I could and did extra cool down walking... well done, unintentional double! On to week 9...

W9r1 was tough but much better on w9r2...nearly there! How about you? Keep going, nearly at the podium...

Not dissimilar - R2 felt slow again but was distinctly faster than R1. I hope to get R3 today but my one ankle is niggling after Morris practice last night and I’m unsure whether to rest a bit longer before R3. Big but though is that I can’t see a gap to run it until Saturday and I’d rather not leave it that long...

Is that Morris dancing? Sounds fun! Did you manage to get r3 in in the end? Waiting until Saturday doesn't sound like a bad idea if not - better to graduate on a high and not risk injury... I ran r3 this morning in high winds :-)

Well done you! I did it yesterday - perfectly well, even with the strapped up ankle. So we are both Graduates - good old us! Not sure what to do next - certainly a week at least of 30 minute runs, starting Saturday I hope, for consolidation and all that. Then - who knows?

What do you reckon on next?

BTW it is morris dancing and I’m feeling stamina benefits from the running and loosened up ankles that are dancing much more happily - even with one wibbly one from time to time - tight cornering and turning not the best but sometimes unavoidable. I’m hoping that it will strengthen with judicious amounts of running.

Hooray! Well done graduate! I am going to do a consolidation week of w9 runs as a starter (not ready to leave Laura just yet!), then maybe download Strava and work on gradually building my distance as the next challenge (I haven't tracked my rubs at all yet). I don't think Park runs or any form of social running is for me - I quite enjoy my solitary early morning adventures...

Nearest Parkrun to me is 12 miles or so and I can’t work up the commitment to go on my own. Takes too much organising too, so solo trips as and when I can fit them in seems to suit me better.
